For Mato’s Kikuyu tribe in Kenya, becoming a man means getting circumcised after a soak in freezing river water at dawn. For Owino’s Luo tribe, it’s the pulling out of six lower teeth. But it is Dean Sandler’s turn to become a man that provides the greatest adventure. The Rhinos have to accomplish Twelve Tasks of Manhood, each specially crafted to test and build courage and endurance.
